A fabulous Antique French guard chain from the late 19th Century made up of long, open-worked links with fancy scrolls within. Each is fashioned in Silver and given a shining 18ct Yellow Gold finish.
The chain is complete with a claw clasp at the end which may have been used to attach a pocket watch or a cylinder of fur known as a Muff to keep the wearer's hands warm in winter.
It measures 57 inches in total and can be worn as one long chain or looped twice around the neck.
